3M Primer Install

Using the 3M Primer 94 for the At The Ready Gun Mount

Installing the mount using 3M Primer 94

  1. Prep the vehicle (or other location) where the 3M Primer will be applied, and the gun mount installed, to protect surfaces from any drips that might occur during application.
  2. Clean the general area with 50/50 mixture of alcohol and water, make sure surface is dry before continuing.
  3. Peel off the red backing from the 3M adhesive tape on the back of the gun mount.
  4. Temporarily and lightly locate the gun mount in the correct orientation where you will want it.  Press the mount at this time only enough to allow it to stay where it’s put.
  5. Outline the mount onto the surface (dash) with a pencil, then remove the mount and set it down tape side up.
  6. Pick up the 3M Primer94 tube, shake vigorously for several seconds, and bend the white cardboard tube until the glass vial encased inside the tube breaks. At this point the applicator will become moistened with the primer solution and will be ready.
  7. Apply a thin coat of the primer onto the surface where the mount will be located making sure to be mindful of any runs or drips! In other words, color inside the box you just penciled.
  8. Wait 5 minutes to allow the 3M Primer 94 to dry.
  9. Install the mount onto the 3M Primer treated surface and press firmly.
  10. Wait 3 days for maximum adhesion.
  11. This website references 3M Primer 94 and should answer any further questions you may have.

Removing the mount

  1. Prep the vehicle or other location where you’re removing the mount by protecting surfaces from any drips from the solvent that will be used.
  2. Using a heat gun, warm the mount starting from at least 18 inches away until you can begin to peel the mount from its surface. Be careful!  Don’t allow the heat from the heat gun to melt anything and DON’T set the gun down anywhere inside the vehicle!
  3. Continue to slowly peel the mount until it is removed completely.
  4. Rub as much of the 3M residue as possible from the surface it was mounted to before using any solvent.
  5. Apply either Goo Gone or Mineral Spirits to a rag and begin to remove the remaining residue with small circular scrubbing motions. Be careful! Don’t allow any solvent or mount residue to get anywhere you wouldn’t want it.
